The location of the Ardrishaig campsite used in 1933 summer camp was described in the Troop Log as being behind the village and the edge of a small wood. As Sam Faulds was the senior leader in camp, it is possible that he was chiefly responsible for organising and planning it. He may well have invited Scouts from the 6th Renfrewshire to ensure a good attendance. Sam was certainly Camp Skipper for the first week of camp, which implies that R.Smith acted as Camp Skipper for the second week. The camp took place during the first fortnight of July, 1933.
PL Duncan Black was 'orderly' to G.S.M. Sam Faulds, while PL Alan Hardie was in charge of the Bell Tent. This implies that the 70th Scouts all slept on the Bell tent. It may also suggest that Duncan Black was considered more experienced than Alan Hardie.
The only information provided on the camp comes from the Troop Log and this was a retrospective summary written in 1935. As a result, details of the detailed day-to-day programme are lacking. However, the photographs and summary provided in the log book indicate that swimming, hikes and hill climbs took place. In particular, visits were paid to a Girl Guide camp about four miles away, and to a Scout camp about 12 miles away. There was also hike to Crinan and back.
The weather during the first week of the camp was excellent, but the second week was wet.
